How Many Yoga Classes A Week Do You Teach?

I often get asked, “How many classes do you teach full time?” The answer varies on the week and it’s very individual to each teacher.

Finding the right balance of classes that allows you to earn an income while avoiding burnout is something that comes with experience.

For me, the ideal balance is around 12 sessions per week.

As a full-time yoga teacher, it can be difficult to say no to opportunities. I created rules to help me decide whether to take on more work.

Here are the limits on how much I’ll teach:

  • 15 sessions max per week

  • 3 sessions max per day

  • 4 evening sessions max per week

Remember, this balance might look very different for you, and that’s okay! You’ll figure out your own personal balance with time.

Here’s a typical weekly schedule:

Monday:

  • 7:00 am group class

  • 6:30 pm group class

Tuesday:

  • 12:00 pm private yoga session

  • 6:30 pm group class

Wednesday:

  • 12:00 pm group class

  • 5:30 pm group class

Thursday:

  • 7:00 am group class

  • 6:30 pm group class

Friday:

  • 11:00 am group class

  • 12:30 pm group class

Saturday:

  • Day off

Sunday:

  • 10:00 am group class

  • 12:00 pm private yoga session

No week is exactly the same—my schedule is always shifting, and I often find myself working 7 days a week.

In addition to my regular teaching schedule, I substitute when I can, and private sessions are always subject to change based on client availability.

In the next episode of Full Time Flow, I’ll share more about teaching at yoga studios and why you might or might not want to teach at a studio.

I’ll see you in the next one!
